Our Story
ShutterScape Studios began as a vision shared between two Asheville natives, Eliza Hawthorne and Samuel Blake, back in 2017. Both Eliza and Samuel shared a deep love for the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture of Asheville, North Carolina. They recognized a need for a photography and videography studio that truly understood and could capture the essence of this unique city and its people.
Eliza, with her extensive background in fine arts photography from the University of North Carolina Asheville, brought a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling through images. Samuel, on the other hand, had honed his videography skills crafting compelling narratives for local businesses and non-profit organizations. Together, they combined their expertise and creativity to create ShutterScape Studios, a company built on a foundation of artistry, technical skill, and a genuine connection to the Asheville community.
Initially, ShutterScape Studios operated out of a small, shared workspace in the River Arts District. They focused primarily on wedding photography and portrait sessions, gradually building a reputation for their professionalism, artistry, and commitment to exceeding client expectations. As their client base grew, they expanded their services to include commercial videography and real estate photography, catering to the diverse needs of Asheville's thriving business community.
Over the years, ShutterScape Studios has evolved from a small startup to a well-respected and trusted photography and videography provider in Asheville. They've documented countless weddings, captured stunning portraits of individuals and families, created impactful commercial videos for businesses of all sizes, and showcased the beauty of Asheville's real estate market. Today, ShutterScape Studios operates out of a larger, state-of-the-art studio space in the heart of the River Arts District. Eliza Hawthorne - Founder & Lead Photographer
Eliza is the heart and soul of ShutterScape Studios. With over 15 years of experience in fine arts photography, she has a keen eye for detail and a passion for capturing the essence of each subject. Eliza holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the University of North Carolina Asheville. She is the driving force behind our commitment to artistry and technical excellence.
Samuel Blake - Co-founder & Lead Videographer
Samuel is our resident videography expert. He has a knack for crafting compelling narratives through moving images. Samuel has worked with numerous local businesses and non-profit organizations, helping them to share their stories with the world. He is responsible for overseeing all of our commercial videography projects.
Ava Chen - Photographer & Editor
Ava is a talented photographer and editor with a passion for capturing candid moments. She specializes in wedding photography and portrait sessions, bringing a fresh and creative perspective to every project. Ava's attention to detail and post-production skills ensure that our clients receive stunning images that they will cherish for years to come.
Noah Ramirez - Videographer & Drone Specialist
Noah is our resident drone enthusiast and videography whiz. He’s certified to operate drones for commercial purposes, providing unique aerial perspectives to our real estate and commercial video projects.
